Latin Dance Party with Potingue Wednesday, May 7th 2008 8-10pm FREE Community Music Center 544 Capp St. at 21st San Francisco, CA (415) 647-6015 This Wednesday's Latin Dance party will include a short performance by renowned flamenco singer and guitarist, Salvadora Galán. Don't miss this special evening at the Community Music Center - we look forward to seeing you there! About Salvadora: At the young age of 13, Salvadora Galan of Olvera, Spain, won a flamenco singing competition in Utrera. At 17, she started to tour as a professional singer in Spain and Portugal. In recent years Salvadora Galan has performed in the U.S. and Mexico and currently resides in El Paso, Texas. Potingue is based at Community Music Center, a non-profit organization that has made its home in the Mission since 1921. Moderated by Chelis López The Orquesta La Moderna Tradición at Yoshi's San Francisco on Memorial Day, May 26th, 2008. Orq. La Moderna Tradicion will be playing their brand of Cuban salsa with violins and flute weaving sweet and swinging melodies against the backdrop of driving Afro-Cuban rhythms (featuring Michael Spiro and Carlos Caro) and the powerful, sizzling vocals of Eduardo Herrera. The orchestra will be performing Cuban music ranging from traditional Danzon and Cha-cha-cha to the latest salsa and timba grooves. Yoshi's will be clearing off the dance floor for this event.
