Orquesta La Moderna Tradición (founded October 3, 1996) is dedicated to the performance of classic and contemporary Cuban dance music. With a typical instrumentation of violins and flute, the 11-piece orchestra performs classics of the genre, along with original compositions designed to keep the tradition alive and kicking.

With two critically acclaimed recordings and performances at festivals across the country, La Moderna Tradición delights listeners and dancers alike with infectious grooves, lyrical melodies, and dazzling improvisations.
Orquesta La Moderna Tradición has played in some of the most prestigious festivals in the United States, including Lincoln Center’s Midsummer’s Night Swing Festival, Breckenridge Jazz Festival, Stern Grove Music Festival, Jazz on the River (a.k.a. the Russian River Jazz Festival), and the Musica de las Americas Festival at the Smithsonian Institution, among many others.
